The word of God is Truth
Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
(Eph 6:17 NLT)
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
(Heb 4:12 NLT)
preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
(2Ti 4:2-5 NASB)
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
(2Ti 3:16-17 NASB)
Why Trust the bible?
God inspired, Faith filled, God fearing and loving men wrote the bible. When you write a letter, do you write the letter, or does the pen in your hand write the letter? Obviously, you do; the pen is merely the instrument you use. God used men as instruments to write His “letter” to humanity. His letter is there to teach us who He is, so we can have a personal loving relationship with him. The men God used to write the bible ranged from kings to common fisherman, many of them not knowing the other. But there is a common theme, message and a golden thread of information running through all 66 books written across hundreds of years by different men (statistically an impossibility to coordinate such a task with such a common thread and message across all the books). God gave man his words through the direction, inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Man then expressed these words accurately, in his own voice, under the supervision of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit directed the collection of these inspired writings so that they became the Bible we have now.
“Those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God” (2 Pet 1:20-21) means that Scripture did not come from the creative work of the prophets’ own invention or interpretation. God inspired the writers, so their message is authentic and reliable. God used the talents, education, and cultural background of each writer (they were not mindless robots); and God cooperated with the writers in such a way to ensure that the message he intended was faithfully communicated in the very words they wrote.
Proof that the bible is supernatural can be seen with a quick study of its many prophecies which have come true over hundreds of years. The fulfilled prophecies, amazing consistency, and many scientific statements of the Bible prove it to be the Word of God. Isaiah 53 which prophecies the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, was prophesied hundreds of years before Jesus was born.
Jesus The Suffering Servant “Who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, And like a root out of parched ground; He has no stately form or majesty That we should look upon Him, Nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him. He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth. By oppression and judgment He was taken away; And as for His generation, who considered That He was cut off out of the land of the living For the transgression of my people, to whom the stroke was due? His grave was assigned with wicked men, Yet He was with a rich man in His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was there any deceit in His mouth. But the Lord was pleased To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand. As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, As He will bear their iniquities. Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the booty with the strong; Because He poured out Himself to death, And was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the transgressors.” (Isaiah 53 NASB)
The age of the book of Isaiah is proven by science and historians to be hundreds of years old before the birth of Jesus and it prophesied of His coming and suffering. Jesus was a real man who was crucified, proven by historians with many eyewitness accounts. We as Christians believe he is the Savior and the Son of God (and also God) (Jhn 1) sent to die for our sins, as the bible prophesied in amazing accuracy before he actually came. The bible will make more sense and come alive in your heart when you have repented of your sin and put your Trust in Jesus through Faith, then God will fill you with the Holy Spirit and you will be Born Again.
